Higher blood sugar might be due to the flu - seems to me that was one thing I was told about - but ask your doc for sure.

Profile Information

Hometown:
Mt. Horeb, WI, now living in Cross Plains, WI
First Name:
Ann
About Me:
MGB on 8/7/08 with Dr. R in Las Vegas. Starting weight before surgery was 330, day of surgery 322.

Before surgery: Size 26 or larger shirts, 4x pants, Diabetes (Glucophage 1500 mg/day, Glipizide 20 mg/day, Lantus Insulin 80-100 ul per day, Regular/Humolog 30-50 ul per day, Byeta before meals

November 4, Size 22 pants, 3x shirt, 275 lbs Glucophage 1500/day, glipizide 20 mg/day, Lantus 10 ul/day, Humulog 0-10 ul/day

Goal: 170 lbs - whatever size that is, no medications

November 24, 2008 - 265 lbs - I seem to be playing with the same 5 lbs - at one point this past few days I was at 259, but now back up to 265. Crazy.

January 26, 2009 - 253 lbs - not much loss during the last two months. I seem to be loosing inches though. I went shopping and can fit into size 18/20 shirts and pants if they are a little stretchy. They seem to look good on me but I've never worn anything tight so it's not comfortable.

Goal is still 170 - 80 lbs to go. I started exercising two weeks ago - hope that will help with the weight loss.

April 28, 2009 – 230 lbs, size 20 shirt and pants. Was drinking Diet Pepsi again and I believe I was beginning to have an ulcer. Stopped it and started the prilosec again and I am pain free for now. No soda’s for me anymore. Working out at gym, shooting my archery and having a blast.

Goal for May 25 is 215 and ultimate goal is 160 lbs.

1 year and 1 new life

It has been one year since the MGB and one year since I started a new life. I spent my one year birthday at the US National Archery Tournament in Hamilton Ohio. The year before I was "watching" everyone from the internet in Las Vegas and wishing I was there, hoping to be there in 2009.

I started out at 330 pounds, highest captured weight was 335, and weight the day of surgery (August 7, 2008) was 322. Funny how I can remember all the numbers. Size 4x pants and shirt. On insulin - 100 units of l… Continue

Tangibles

Tangibles are those things that you can touch, see and feel. I have been having a lot of trouble seeing my 100 pound weight loss. I am still the same shape, still have the same flab in the same places. I know that I am smaller, but I just don’t see it. So, to validate the weight loss I have to use the other “tangibles” of touch and feel.

I got on a plane this last weekend. I was at first dreading it. The looks and stares, the squeezing into a small seat, the asking for a seat belt extender. In… Continue

Hi Ann,
I am between Delavan and Elkhorn, WI. Yes, it has been two years and 5 months since my MGB. I am feeling good. I lost 80 lbs. 80% of what I was technically overweight just like they said was what I could expect. I started having a cherry coke occasionally and now have one a day but in winter have a cup of hot coffee instead.
I also have to keep quiet with the health insurance. They love that I don't need the meds, but anything to deny a claim they will jump at. I haven't had any illnesses since my surgery. I have been healthier than ever.

hi Ann I was just wondering after seeing your last post on KL's site about not losing if you feel your body slimming down even though you are not showing it on the scale....My pants keep getting loser and loser even though I am losing very slowly...did you notice anything like that?

We were home last Christmas, so not this year. TOOOOO cold. we have lived here almost 20 years and the blood has thinned to much along with my bod which cannot stand much cold anymore. I am down about 160#s from the highest and I eat what I want and have remained the same weight for the last year. I could not be happier......

Just hi Ann, I am from WI, lived in Madison - Middleton for many years and visited Mt Horeb many times, mostly for the Palmer Clinic for adjustments. We have lots of family in Cross Plains. Have been out of my MGB for 3.5 years and have never looked back. Congrats on your new life.
