About Me:
Had my surgery January 14th, 2009 in Henderson with Dr. Rutledge. Doing well at about a month out, down close to 30 lbs.

April 26/09
I am now at 14.5 weeks and have lost 71 lbs so far! I am feeling great and have become much more active. My poor little doggie can't keep up with me anymore. I am wearing my size 16's and mostly XL tops. I have trouble with carbs, sugar and fat so I stay away from them.

July 22/09
Wow, I haven't updated this in a while. I am currently at approximately 6 months out, and down to 199.5 which I hit on July 5th. Total lost so far 102.5, and I expect to loose some more next week. I bounce around for most of the month and loose it all in the week following my period. Still figuring out foods as I am adding in new stuff. I have found I really love mussels; yummy, has protein and feels good in my tummy. I probably have not been getting enough protein, but I am working on it. Tomorrow I do my 6 month blood work. I am wearing mostly 14's and size L, but have a couple of 12's and size M. My new Lululemon hoodie is actually in an 8, which is CRAZY!!! I have been having way too much fun shopping, and need to stop NOW!!!! LOL :)

Thoughts at Week 44...

Ok, so here I am, just over 10 months out from my MGB, I have lost 157 pounds and counting, going from 302 down to 145 as of this morning. I have gone from a size 24/26 pants and 3X tops, down to a size 6/8 pants and small tops. In many ways my life is completely different, and in some ways it is the same. I am still lazy, and a procrastinator, I just can't use the excuse of my fatness anymore, and I am finding ways to deal with it constructively. Now when I go to the gym, I get on that elliptic… Continue

Yay! I'm OVERWEIGHT!!!!!!!

I can't believe it, this morning when I woke up I was no longer obese! I just about started crying. I am 7 months out and I have lost 122.5 pounds to date. I was actually getting concerned because I am loosing at the same rate as I was in the beginning. I called Sandy in Vegas and she told me I should eat higher calorie foods, so I am going to start working on that, and have been adding in a bit more juice today. Who ever thought I would have a problem loosing too fast? Not me!

It has been many… Continue

Wow Moments: 100 Lbs, Onederland, Shopping!!!!

Ok, so I haven't been on here much. Things got really busy in my life as I was preparing everything for my grandfather's big 90th birthday bash. All of the work I did for it from the invitations (making them), to the food (I catered and sourced the whole meal), the rentals (hall, dishes, decor, a/v stuff), the liquor and license, and everything else for the party. There is no way I could have had the stamina to do it all at 300 pounds. I loose weight in cycles no matter what I do. Monthly I fluc… Continue

3.5 Months Post-Op

I am not sure how and when it happened, but I am busy. Running around doing things, being active, spending fun times with friends, even cleaning up my apartment. I did a closet purge on Saturday with a friend, and I am getting rid of 3 huge trash bags full of clothes. I still have tons of clothes, as my closet was stocked with a complete wardrobe in 4 different sizes. I am fitting into most of my size 16 pants, and XL shirts, even some L shirts from H&M. As of this morning I am 230 lbs, whic… Continue

6 weeks out

Hi, so I am six weeks out now and I think I am doing pretty good. As of today I have lost 34 lbs, which is about 22% of my excess weight. I have gone from a BMI of 50.2 down to 44.6. Yay!!!

I am feeling alright although I do have problems occasionally. I can not eat in front of the fridge, this has been an ongoing learning experience but I think I finally get it. I never really noticed it, but I guess before I used to eat food from the fridge, standing up in the kitchen. Well apparently when I… Continue

yes, I am sure your mom will be shocked, my mom and others keep saying how skinny I am at 155 now...when DocP and I where discussing how much I wanted to weight afterward it was about 145...Now that I am at 155 I really don't want to weight 145 I think I would start to look a little skeletal. well my weight loss stopped pretty quickly..but I did keep losing 2-3 lbs a month after ward and even this month I lost 3lbs at 19 months out with out trying so I guess a few more months and you will be down too low..
The eating thing does sound crazy..I know sometimes I find myself eating like bread and cereal allot and know I should be eating something more substantial like cottage cheese or something protein based...so funny that we still have to work at the eating..but at least in societies eyes and our own we are more fit and attractive..I guess that is what makes it ok now compared to eating when you are obese. no guilt..
that really is a shame you can't go to the MnG in vegas..you would have fun meeting everyone, it's like going to see your favorite rock stars..LOL..I really enjoyed meeting everyone at Allentown last year. Very beautiful crowd more so in person..but we all drank too much (too much fun staying up too late and dancing) I was totally exhausted afterward on the way home. And missing out on your Florida trip..that's really sad..
So you need to have it right away then. Maybe you could go in Feb during the MnG and maybe hit it that way...Dr R should speak a little there...at Allentown they had a doc with bariatric advantage there to do a little shpell on the vitamin and stuff. they probably won't do a total reversal just move the bypass back a foot or two I am guessing...?
Hang in there keep eating PButter...

Just caught your youtube video - my thoughts and prayers go out to you. You might want to look into a product from Carnation - VHC. Think of this as a concentrated form of their Instant Breakfast. It is a very high calorie drink and they have it in a Lactose free variety. I believe you can order it online. I'm only aware of this as I had a brother who due to illness got sick and had to use this to get his weight back up. Best wishes and I hope things stabilize soon for you.

Just left my comment attached to your "44 wk blog" because it was too many words to be accepted into the Comment Wall. I don't regularly speak up, but when I do, I usually have a lot to say!!

Ohh Carey...I am so sorry to hear that. You know I have to say I was just completely the "consent form" to mail in my packet and it is scary!!!! I am sitting here wondering what I am doing...am I crazy??? Besides death and a few other things losing to much was a major concern for me. If you don't mind me asking, I know I read it before you...how much feet did you have bypassed?? I think I saw 7 feet. Sorry to hear you have to cancel your travel plans. I must say you do look amazing but it is great that you recognize you need help now. Please keep us posted. Have a Happy Holiday if I don't get to speak with you again. Good luck with the new Doctor and I will keep you in my thoughts.

Wow Carey I just read your post to DAniene,,, how long will you give yourself before you really have to decide on doing a reversal? did you email "Suzanne from CA" about what she did to gain weight back...I guess that was a dumb question I saw you said that you are eating all day...boy that is upsetting....

Hi Carey...if you don't mind me asking why are you seeing a bariatric specialist? I hope all is well..I know you were concerned about losing too much weight. If you don't mind sharing with me I would really appreciate it.

Hey! Just saw you commented to someone that your sister lives in Alameda...My husband lived in Alameda when we started dating. His brother is in the Coast Guard. I lived in Chico at the time north of Sacramento. We had lots of fun times in Alameda. :)
