So many years of being hot and sweaty - I'll take some cold for a while - but I do hope that my body "resets" itself and fires up the metabolism - enough of this "saving" energy - that's how my body works and I'm sure most everyone elses here. Exerc…

Kelsha, it was in the first week after surgery and continues on to today. We are packing to head back to Arizona today and actually looking forward to some heat after being up in the frozen north for three weeks. BUT I wouldnt trade this surgery for…

Hey! Great report on your success. I have heard this about being cold...I have always hated being too hot...You can always wear a thicker coat...You can only get so naked :) So, I will be curious to see if I like the new cool down surgery brings. Ho…

Wonderful report. I have friends who didn't have the MGB who carry sweaters in their car (in Arizona) to take in with them to restaurants because the air is so cold - I think that's a smart idea for me too - I'm cold now too most of the time.

6 Months out and doing fine...

Hey MGB friends
I have not posted in quite a while and thought I would catch you all up. Jon, my hubbie, had his MGB surgery in May and has lost 57 pounds so far and is no longer diabetic...he took his last insulin the day before surgery and his recent A1C test shows 5.4 which has astounded his Endocrinologist. I am down 83 pounds in 6 months and my A1C has dropped to 5.7, another success story. We are presently up in Alaska visiting family and getting out of the Arizona heat...sure do feel the… Continue

6 Weeks out and doing well.

Hey friends
I am 6 weeks out from surgery and down 31 pounds and that is not including the 7 I gained in water weight the first week after surgery which would make it 38 down. I am trying out different foods and doing well tho I can not eat much of any one thing and meat fills me up quickly. I measured and am down 7 inches in my waist and I am pulling out old clothes and trying them on to find that most of them now fit. I got rid of the much smaller stuff a couple years ago so I guess in a month… Continue

Life is good....

Well, life on the other side is doing good. I am into stage 2 foods and loving it. My husband, sweet man that he is, is spoiling me and I appreciate it. So far things have been doing well and my bruising from the low platelets is healing faster now. I had some fluid retention right after surgery but that seems to be resolved and the scale is going down now. Today we start on the paper work for my hubbies journey for his MGB and then after his surgery, we will both be on the same path to healthie… Continue

On the Other Side now and doing well.

Well, I am now officially in the Post-MGB group of great people. I did well in the surgery and didnt lose too much blood, my platelets had actually gone up alot before surgery so now we will wait till I go back to the hematologist to be certain the low platelets are fixed and were caused by my med.s. that I will no longer have to take. I am back at the hotel and am anxiously waiting for the day I get the staples out. So far so good...had abit of a tummy ache when I ate abit too much and too fast… Continue

Las Vegas...here I come...

Hi everyone...Looks like I am finally going to get to Las Vegas. My hematologist has written and sent the Release for Surgery and I am scheduled for Thursday Feb 26th in Las Vegas with Dr Rutledge and I am excited and scared both. I am busy getting last minute stuff done and packed for our road trip from Az to Vegas on Monday and looking forward to clinic on Tuesday. Just think, in less than a week I will be on the 'other' side and off all med.s (hopefully). The hematologist thinks maybe the low… Continue

Hi Debra
I am just getting started with the mini gastric bypass process and was looking for a few people to contact that knows a thing or two about it. I am 35 years old and live in Seattle Washington. I haven't scheduled my date yet but should be doing it soon. I have a few questions and curiousities so if you are up for it I would love to talk.
Thanks
Doreen

Good for you! Sounds like your weight loss is moving along nicely!

Yeah, pre-op can be nerve-wracking because it is the unknown. Tell Jon we're all rooting for him and that things will be fine. You will love having him doing this with you. Mark and I can completely relate to what each other goes through. Not only that, we share meals a lot :-)

Thanks for the comments Debra. I have wondered at times if Dr. R. made my stomach too small. It is very helpful to be able to talk to people that have been or are going through the same process. I will try to be more patient with my progression. Take care and Happy Easter!

Hi Debra,
I am glad you are doing fine. Yes you should ask about a family rate. LOL =)
It is true and unfortunate, that obesity is a family affair, and does run in the family. I am trying to convince my mom to go for the MGB, she was totally impressed with DR. P..not just his good looks. I have been really busy at work, and have not posted a thing. But I will always try to keep in touch.
Still smiling and still shining,
Alison

Just checking in with you to see how you are doing. I am so glad your husband is having the surgery too. It is so nice to do it with your spouse. Mark and I really "get" each other with this stuff.
