- I live in Nebraska with my husband and two children. I first learned about the MGB from on online search. I talked myself out of surgery thinking that if I just tried harder, I could loose the weight myself. A year later, I was at my heaviest weight ever, 241. I had surgery with Dr. R on June 4, 2008. My surgery took 32 minutes and I had a 6 foot bypass.

First Day of School and "Little Things"
Today was my first day back at school. At 8 am , we had our first meeting with all district staff. I got several comments about my weight. Some people just said I looked good and left it at that, while others wanted to know how I did it. I had made a promise with myself that I wouldn't lie if people asked me, so I did tell my MGB story to a couple of people. Luckily, they were very supportive. Another month gone by without a post! GRRRR! No wonder people are hunting me down! Thanks Sonya and Rose for your comments! I love you guys!
This summer has just flown by! First the MGB on June 4th. Three weeks later, I flew to Orlando to attend a week long "Train the Trainer" Institute on Differentiated Instruction. Last week I taught my first college class! In a couple of more weeks, school starts again. Whew!!

It's 2:30 in the morning and I'm wide awake! Luckily, no restless legs! It's weird, sometimes I have them and sometimes I don't. I did ask my pharmacist about Requip, and I found out it is not too good for stomachs, so I can only hope that they will go away completely. I'm going to Florida next week for a workshop, and I'm so afraid I'll be up all night with my freaky legs and be a zombie the next day.

I can't believe it's been a week since I last posted! I really wanted to be one of those people who posted every little detail every day! Oh-well!
The last time I wrote, I was doing great! I was planning on walking the Strip, visiting Hoover Dam, and doing some mountain climbing! Alas, it was not to be! The very next day I developed a lump in my throat which quickly turned into full-blown thrush! By Friday, I couldn't swallow without pain, and I couldn't talk at all. My tentative surgery date is March 11th, so I'm really trying to get this all together.
I was going to try to add an attachment here, but I'm not sure how to do that, so I'll just add the questions:
1. When did you have your MGB surgery?
2. What was your PreOp Weight?
3. What is your weight now?
4. What has been the worst thing about your MGB experience?
5. What has been the best thing your MGB experience?
6. Did you have your surgery in Nevada or Florida, and what did you think of the Dr.?
7. How would you rate the level of care that you received at the hospital?
8. How would you rate the responsiveness of the Clinic regarding pre-op questions/concerns?
9. Would you recommend this surgery to your friends or family members?
10. What is the one most important bit of advice that you would like to pass on to anyone that is getting ready to have the MGB?

Sonya Perkins said… - Denise, you look fabulous!!! You are so tiny. Doesn't it just feel amazing? Can you believe it has already been 6 months. Is Todd thrilled? Matt keeps poking at me saying things like, "I've never felt that bone before" He also keeps trying to pick me up, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for that yet. My mind still thinks I'm too big for that, even though I know I'm not.
How is everything going? How's school? Life? Kids? I miss talking to you. Call me when things calm down for you. As if they ever do right.
So I take it you liked twilight. I liked the movie a lot but he is just not Edward for me.
