First Name:
Gloria Bryan
About Me:
I am a 37 year old mother of 3 (ages 12, 17 & 20). I underwent MGB on February 21, 2008 in Davenport, Florida. Dr. Peraglie was a heaven sent as was his staff. I must admit in the past I haven't done the greatest job at helping myself but since the MGB I have taken a new attitutude towards my present and future life.

I have been enjoying this journey thus far, albeit, at times it posses challenges, though, its nothing I can't handle. This journey has been filled with learning new habits and curving the old. I feel great! I'm in a better place in my life and look forward to a healthy and active rest of my life.

7 1/2 months post-op

Hey all,

Hope you're doing well. Me? Well, here I am almost 8 months post-op and I have no complaints. My sugar level has remained normal, my blood pressure is right on target and life looks real good right now. Yes, there are certain things I could do without, like minor stressors.... but hey, its life. The key is to take it in strides and be very self aware, which I must say I have been doing a really good job at focusing on.

So just to let you all know, I stopped weighing myself sometime ag… Continue

7 1/2 Weeks Out

Hello everyone!

As of today, I'm 7 1/2 weeks post-op and 28 lbs down! I would NEVER have been able to do this in such a short period of time before.

Well, here it comes. This process has been far from an easy or quick fix like some may think. The fact is that there is much work to be done on my part. I have to continuously work at being aware of my eating habits and making sure that I don't stray from my plan to continue a healthy lifestyle. Sometimes, its hard because I want to eat the "junk"… Continue

School...preparation for reality

Yesterday was a difficult day at school. My first class at 8:00 am started with a presentation that lead into a couple of videos about a group of police officers in Vancouver BC who took to the streets armed with a video and still camera. What they did was to film drug addicts in their darkest hours. It was a candid, real look at the lives of men and women addicted to cocaine, heroin and everything in between. Their stories touched me, so much so that I sobbed during most of the movies.

I had a… Continue

I had my surgery July 3 2008. Now down 50 lbs. I feel much better most of the time. I can't get over how I can want something that was so tasty and juicy before, like a big cheese burger with onions, hot peppers, let. tom. mayo & salt & pepper, but when I fix it and try to eat it it's not what I wanted. It just doesn't hit the spot. In fact I can only take 1 or 2 bites and wish I ate something else. I'm big on water mellons, honeydew, and cantalope's. Soups are grate. I also warm V8 juice with salt, pepper. hot sauce and worchestershire sauce, it's grate. I make a half of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich now. I must eat slower and chew better and wait a little while to feel satisfied, as you also must.

Gloria, what a beautiful picture! you should be very proud of yourself. In spite of some hard learned lessons, agent orange and all, you are doing very well and you look wonderful.......only 24 pounds to goal woooohooooooo! Your classes sound really intense, what are you studying?
Thank-you for writing "the real story", I think it's very important to hear that it's not necessarily an easy ride and hearing you talk about how easy it was to slip into old behaviors is something that we all need to hear.
Sending you lots of {{{hugs}}}

I like your new picture! You look fabulous. You have done so well since your surgery and you are almost to your goal, congratulations!
I still want to lose another 8-10 pounds, and I will take more if it comes. I am well and really happy with my weight loss so far.
Loose skin.... I am the queen of it! My upper arms are hideous and I wear 3/4 or long sleeves all the time..... but I have loose skin everywhere and I think age has a lot to do with it.... BUT I am thinner and more active, so that trumps loose skin! I have been told that the scar to remove upper arm loose skin is not nice, so I do not plan to do anything there.... but I would like an abdominal plasty, time will tell.
Congratulations on your success.
