About Me:
i'm 29 years old. I live in Bountiful Utah. I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I've gained and lost more weight that i can even count. I've always been a "bigger" person. My friends would always be so kind and say that i wasnt fat, i was just "husky" I played football and got realy into the gym and powerlifting. at my peak i could bench press 495 lbs. at that time i only weighted about 230. There have been times in my life where i have lost lots of weight and been in good shape and times where i have been severely overweight like i am now. I used to be able to lose weight with discipline and hard work. But my dieting and 1.5 hours of hard cardiovascular workouts a day on the eliptical hasnt budged my weight. Currently i'm 100lbs over weight i suffer from high blood pressure sleep apnea and high cholesterol. And a chronic case of "man boobs" hahaha. My sister has had a similar procedure and it changed her life. I am hoping that it will do the same for me. I would love to chat with anyone and everyone who has gone through this procedure as i am desperate for some help. Also i am engaged to the most beautiful loving and caring woman i have ever met. And am getting married on august 8 of 2008. She is the light of my life and always tells me that she loves me being chubby or slender. we have been best friends and together for many years. Shoot me a message i would love to chat with you!!!

Hey Jeff.

How are things going? Are you any closer to your MGB? I hope all is going well with you. I'm 40 days out right now and I feel great! I've already lost 22 lbs and can't believe how much my body is changing so quickly.

I hope you have your chance to go on this journey soon if you haven't already, you will be truly glad you did.

Well, take good care, cheers!

Hi Jeff, It is funny you ask how my psych evaluation went. I was a little on the leery side at first. I kept thinking, I need to make sure I answer all the questions correctly or the Dr. may think I have issues. LOL.... Well, once I got to my appointment and talked with the Dr. all my fears were put to rest. She was extremely nice and really wanted details about the MGB. She actually took copies of some of my pages from my manual. She was very kind and I really enjoyed my visit. I would not hesitate to see her again. Good luck in your search for a psych doctor. I hope you are as lucky as I was. Take Care, Sandie

Hi Jeff,
I just had my surgery on 2/14 so I am about one month out. I am down about 22 lbs and today I had to put 2 pairs of jeans into the "too big" pile- boy did that feel great!!! I had a great experience with the whole procedure. I had my surgery in Florida with Dr. P. Where are you planning on going? I am so happy I did it and can't wait to see how I end up!!!
Good luck.

Hi Jeff,
I had my surgery with Dr. Peraglie on 7/5/07. I've lost 105lbs. My brother- who is also named Jeff! had surgery 12/6/07, and has already lost 85lbs. He did start out at 390, so he has a lot more to lose than I did.

I just wanted to encourage you! I had sleep apnea, Type II Diabetes and High Blood Pressure. They are all gone! My sleep apnea disappeared almost immediately after surgery, which was really weird since I hadn't lost much weight yet, but hey! I am so thrilled to sleep through the night, and my husband does NOT miss the bear like snoring!

Best wishes to you!

Sandie,

that is awesome! I'm hoping that my pcp will be as supportive as yours. That is really cool about the psych evaluation. I need to call and get an appointment for that asap. What was it like? was it scary? I've never had a psych evaluation before.

Hi Jeff, I found the clos.net site in August but decided I couldn't afford it. I would still look at the site and read the emails. Then in December, I decided to get serious and do what was best for me. I moved fairly quickly through the manual and completed my packet in about 3 weeks. I was extremely lucky to have the support of my PCP from the very beginning. I also lucked out because I called on a Monday for my psych evaluation and got an appointment the very next day. So, I would say from December to February was my official timeframe. I believe it was the best decision I have made for myself in a very long time. Let me know if you have any questions. Take Care, Sandie

Welcome Jeff! I am two weeks out and I will never look back. Things are going really well for me. I will admit that I have had to deal with some head issues regarding food but I am letting go of the past and welcoming the future. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Take Care,
Sandie

Hi Jeff!

Welcome onboard. I recently had my MGB and have absolutely no regrets. I'm not going to lie and tell you its been easy reprogramming old habits, but its hasn't been terrible either. I feel that these past few weeks have began to teach me discipline and I know that I will be at the weight I desire in time.

I'm glad you've made the decision to live a healthier life.

All the best!

Gloria
