Hi John and Kerry,
My name's Jaime and I've finally decided to take the leap and get MGB done after seeing the results my mom got. She's already down 85 lbs! So, I'm mid way through my packet and I need patient contacts...So, I was just wondering if you could be one of my patient contacts. I would really appreciate it! I hope to hear from you soon! Because I'd really like to get it done before the new year! Talk to you soon. Thanks :)

Hi Kerry, Haven't heard from you in a while and thought I'd check in to see how you are doing...and how you are adapting to your new life? I hope all is well and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Jolene

Hi John and Kerry and thank you for your input on this. I agree with you, 54 is not old although I feel like 94 sometimes. Someone along the way in my search for help told me that there was a cutoff date. I am pursuing anyway.. I need help. Again thank you!!

Hi Kerry and John
Glad you arrived safely in Las Vegas. John should be a good MGB care provider, he has been there... and has you to emulate. Keep in touch and let me know how you are. Enjoy Clinic and I will be keeping you in my thoughts this week.

Hi Kerry, Good luck this week. It will be a wild ride, but in a good way. Don't worry, you'll get another chance to chat with Dr. R the morning of the surgery. He will hold another clinic meeting then. If your surgery is on Thursday, then you will also be able to see the patients who went throught the day before and see how they were doing. I feel for you on the ride down. We drove down highway 95 from Boise ID. Although it is more scenic it is still a really long ride. The ride back was the worst though as it took FOREVER. Not to mention we were just south of Salt Lake City and my mom asked if we could try and just stop by for a few minutes to see a friend she hasn't seen in over 10 years, so obviously that few minutes took over 2 1/2 hours...but we made it home safely and all is well. I'm excited to hear how you and Sadie do this week. Post when you can and don't forget your salt and not to over due things for the first few days at least. I'll be praying for both of you and keeping good thoughts.

Kerry: Thanks for the compliment! I feel younger also, as you will soon experience for yourself. We're in kind of the same situation, MGB wise. I had my surgery in November and my hubby just had his surgery on Thurs here in FL with Dr. Peraglie. He's done awesome. His sugar level has been around 125 and his BP around 140's/80's ALL WITHOUT MEDS. Woo-Hoo. It is good going through this as a caregiver rather than a patient. Having gone through this before, it is comforting to be able to say "Yes, this is normal". I'll be praying for you on surgery day!! - Linda

John,
congrats on doing so well! I was glad that I was able to hear from you on my surgery date, since you had just gone through it the day before.
Kerry,
Now it's your turn, and I really do wish you all the best. It's neat that John has already gone through this, and you have seen first hand what to expect. Let us know when your date is.
Very happy for you both,
Georgia

Hello John, You had your surgery the day before me but, in Vegas. I was one of Dr. P's kids. I am just now down 60 lbs and still have along ways to go. I didn't have any drains but, I had two ports that were leakers. My husband was always patching me up but, by the time I got the staples out they were doing ok. I am still on my meds but, hope to be off them soon. My starting weight was 57 lbs higher than yours so hopefully soon. My sugar runs around 91 now. Thanks for adding me to your friends and nice to get to know both of ya. Carol Ware

About Me:
John had surgery 3/28/07. Kerry had surgery 10/17/07 in Nevada.

John's surgery was about 30 minutes. He came out with a 6' bypass, and two very annoying drains due to slightly more bleeding during surgery. His comfort level was much improved after the drains came out! He went in with diabetes, high BP, high cholesterol, and sleep apnea. He is off all meds for the above, as of 2 days post-surgery. Another success story...

Kerry's surgery was 35 minutes, with a 7 foot bypass. Lots of nausea and pain post-surgery, but resolved by two weeks out. Had a post-op stricture; after three endoscopies, it seems to be holding open.
