I can only speak for myself. I'm just over a year out from surgery. I was a smoker, but only drank alcohol occasionally with a 2 drink maximum, loved any form of coffee all day and night, never drank any pop, but did consider myself a food addict....
Very interesting topic. I also find if I don't eat enough (not intentionally of course) I can end up gaining weight! Go figure! LOL

- I had my surgery on July 9, 2008 with Dr. (Wonderful) Rutledge in Henderson, Las Vegas.
I consider myself one of the luckiest people, just like all the other MGBers who have had this surgery with these wonderful doctors. I feel like I am actually living my life in just 2 months! I no longer hide away in the house avoiding all social gatherings. I actually want to be outside doing... anything.
Today is an especially good day for me, I spend the morning cleaning out the basement, bagging old and broken items (mostly toys) and I even called 1-800-GOT-Junk and got rid of a bunch of old unused furniture and other big items. Cleaning out the basement is like cleansing the soul. OK...maybe not, but it sure feels good!
This weightloss is more than just a weight off my back (and thighs and waist and ...) it is also a weight off my mind. I never had the engery to clean anything before, now I just do it without even thinking about it.
Life is Wonderful. Thank you Dr. Rutledge.

Hi everyone
My name is Anna-Maria. I'm 45 years old. I've been married for 16 years and have a daughter 14 and a son 9. I've always been overweight but never to this extent. I've done all the diets and programs that i'm sure you all have done. Three years ago I started reseaching Weight Loss Surgery. Over a year ago I found Dr. Rutledge and the MGB on Youtube. Been hooked since then.
My date is July 9th. God willing everything goes well.

Lisa said… - Yikes, the dreaded chocolate bar! If I go there, I will be in trouble. Although I have to say, I do eat whatever I want too, only in very small amounts. Ihave to try to remind myself to eat less because I still have a tendency to eat too much and it causes me to feel so yucky that I have to throw up. I need to be able to determine how much that " too much" is though. It seems to come to me AFTER I have had too much rather than before.

I am doing GREAT, thanks for asking. I have gained about 18-20 pounds over the last 8 months. If you remember, I had extreme nausea for about 16 months and could hardly eat. It was finally determined to be hormonal, as Dr. R said all along, and after getting the "FEMRING" the nausea stopped within 2 days. I lived in pure hell until then. I couldn't stand to smell food cook and had a hard time going into a restaurant because of the food smells. I still have a hard time with garlic. It's really strange. It makes me so very sick to my stomach to smell it in any fashion. Once I could eat again, I gained rapidly. I guess my body thought I was starving, which I probably was. I lost down to 155 and am now at 172-175. I'd love to be at 155, but where I'm at now sure beats 289. LIFE IS GOOD! I still don't feel like I eat much of anything, and I am careful about what I eat. I guess it is my bodies way of evening itself out. I think I lost a great deal of muscle and I've noticed it has come back to some degree. I'm not AS saggy as I was.
The MGB changed my life and really given me a whole new life. I feel reborn. I just wish I'd found out about it sooner. I got here as fast as I could...hehehe!

I received your message back.....thanks for the feedback on Dr R. I don't think we can go wrong with either choice of surgeon, the group had rave reviews of both. I accidentally hit the "friend request" button instead of the comment one....sorry, just delete it, I'm still getting the hang of this site. I'm looking for the accept friends button for a couple of the requests I made yesterday(sigh, techno stuff eludes me at times).I'm sure I'll have lots of questions and things to add as I start my own transformation in Sept. In the mean time, I'm enjoying the blogs and will keep in touch.

sounds like you are feeling a little better? how is the nausea? I was watching a show on TV last night about a gal that was 400+ lbs and I fell asleep halfway through so I only saw to the 6 month part and she had some nausea at the site of food in the grocery store and thought of you wondered how it is going now...are you still so very ill or are you getting some stuff down? did you use anything to help it or did you just have to let time pass? sorry for all the questions but you where on my mind...

Sounds like things are going well for you post-op. I am from Cambridge ON and just attended the support group meeting in Milton this Saturday.
