Hey Ann, Nice to hear from you! Lisa is doing just as well, but she isn't really a blogger. She is at the same plateau and has lost almost exactly the same number of pounds as me. She looks great! Post us a pic!

My pouch must have stretched some because I feel like I'm eating a whole lot more than I could right after surgery. Although . . . Late last night I made a run to the mexican place and brought home some breakfast burritos. You know the kind, eggs, p…

I was wondering about the puch test written about by Trish. My understanding was that our 'tube' isvery difficult to stretch out versus an RNY pouch....I am just curious-I am not at that point yet...but didnt see how it would or could help MGB'ers..…

9 Months Out

Well, its now 9 months since my MGB, and I am just thrilled with the results. I'm down 125 pounds, and looking and feeling so much better. I haven't had any complications at all and most of my health problems are gone. I still have quite a way to go to get to my goal weight. I confess I'm a little worried about how to lose the next 70 pounds; for the last two months I have only lost about 5 pounds total. I am most certainly able to eat more than I was early on, so I suppose I need to kick into n… Continue

Five Months Out

. . . and down 100 pounds! 435/335/235 Holy cow, I even lost weight through the Holidays. I can't even believe it. I still have these horrible plateaus where I don't lose anything for a couple of weeks, but then it starts coming off again. I guess as long as I don't go up, I can be happy.

I still have fits when I eat chicken, but almost everything else is really good. It's just hard to imagine that I am satisfied with the small amounts of food I actually eat. It gets a little embarassing at the… Continue

3 Month Report

Well, it's hard to believe it's been 3 months now since Dr. R worked his magic on my innards. I am down a whopping 71 pounds! Its almost unbelievable. The other day I went to my favorite big & tall store, and the guys who always help me were just shocked. I ususally would buy a size 5XT shirt, but now I'm down to 3XT. Dress shirts were size 22, and now I'm comfortably into a size 19. Pretty darn cool for only 3 months.

I'm feeling pretty good now, and I can eat almost everything, except for… Continue

7 Weeks Out

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't written for a while. I'm back in the saddle at work, school has started up again for the little munchkins, and life is busy. Well I'm down 46 pounds. Suwheet! Last week I had to travel to Chicago on business. The last time I was in the airport there was in mid-June, about 6 weeks before my surgery. It was pure hell. O'Hare is a really big airport, and walking between gates, going through security, and standing in endless line was really difficult for me. I had to stop an… Continue

Hey Steve, take it easy on the solids... try to stick with very soft foods for a few more days if you can. If it hurts to do something, I Yah know? It isn't really worth it. Instead of gatorade all the time I would alternate between juice with lots of ice and then gatorade to make sure you keep up your electrolites. Not being able to think of things to eat is normal. I still think "why bother" often... I am only going to have 2-3 bites of anything so why bother making anything or ordering anything. That is great that you felt good out at lunch and didn't feel like a gold fish in a bowl!

20 &23 lbs!!! Woot woot!!! That is awesome buddy! WTG for both you and Lisa!!! I am happy that the surgery didn't damage anything critical! It is amazing how even 20 lbs makes you feel more attractive and interested in exercising... LOL I just got over a week long standoff with the scale. It just wouldn't budge past 25 lbs and I even gained 4 lbs back! Flo told me it was completely normal, and I am happy to say that I lost that 4 lbs and 3 more and amnow at 28 lbs down after one month and one day! Woot Woot!!!! We are both on our way bud.... here's to sharing the journey and encouraging people along the way!

chicken still does that to me I think it is too dry. I can eat steak, shrimp and fish no problem. I am out 3 months today. Eat just about anything (unfortunatly I can eat some sweets too). It is so great though it just keeps coming off down 43 lbs...I watched you guys on the live clinic too you almost looked giddy. I felt euphoric for 2 weeks afterward..
best wishes to you and the Lisa

Hey Kelty-Lee,
Well, so far so good. I have had lots of 'rumbling' and crazy noises and feelings, and I'm still trying to sort it all out. I can tell you for sure, I am sick of Gatorade! But I know it's good for me so I sip it all day. I have a hard time finding things I want to eat. But today I went to lunch with some folks from work (who don't know I had surgery). We went to a sushi place, and I had miso soup, and about 6 pieces of raw fish. It was great! I had no trouble and nobody suspected a thing. I have tried little pieces of roasted chicken, which tastes great but really hurts when it hits the stomach. I guess 13 days out I should be slurping porridge or something, but I really want to try real food. Anyhow, I'm down exactly 20 pounds today! Woo hoo! Lisa is down 23! So I guess its working! And yes, we have started our 'exercise' routine, and I'm happy to say that nothing critical was damaged during the surgery!

Why don't you and Lisa switch to caffein free diet coke for the rest of the time... and try to cut it out all together a couple of days before the big day.... the caffein withdrawl if the big thing you want to avoid.
