Just checking in with you to see how you are doing. Did you finish your packet and send it in? I am almost three months out and down 53 lbs. I have so much more energy and can eat just about anything I want. I "fit" places better too. We went to the movie and I actually had space between me and the armrests! Let me know how you are doing.

Hey Zak,

There is a powdered version of Gatorade available and that might make it easier for you but all of the airports that I have been through, including Heathrow, have Gatorade in their coolers in the stores before you get on the plane so either one would work.
Have you started your package for the MGB and thought about when you would want to have your surgery yet?
My 6 month anniversary is one week from to-day and I'm hoping to be at 80 pounds. To-day's weigh-in was 192, making it 78 pounds to date.........yaaaaay!
Keep in touch,
{{hugs}} Trish

Hi Zak,
I know just how you feel. I am getting very impatient with my lifestyle as an obese person. I also believe that MGB is the best answer to getting my life back. My weight hurts me professionally as well. When I log into this site and read all of the success stories I am hopeful again. Blogging with such supportive people pushes me forward. I can't imagine how I would be doing without this possible solution to my BIG problem. Keep up the good work and take care. We're all here for you!

Hi Zak - Good Luck!
I am about 5 weeks out down 24 pounds from surgery.
I feel great - I have not had any adverse side effects.
If I can answer any questions please feel free to write.

Hi Zak,
I've been away in Vegas for the weekend, attended the MGB picnic and arrived home this morning so I'm just catching up on email.
A long flight 1 week out can be challenging but not impossible. It wouldn't hurt to check with Dr R to see what feedback he can give you from previous patients but I would think the the biggest challenges could be preventing blood clots - you would need to be up and walking at lest once per hour, wearing the elastic stockings that they will give you on surgery day, doing heel and toe flexing while sitting, keeping hydrated - all of this will help prevent that possibility. The other challenge could be stage 1 foods because you can't take anything through customs with you so after clearing that area, you would need to stock up on Gatorade, yogourt, watermelon slices if available (chew it for the juice and then spit out the solids) sounds gross, I know, but good for you, especially with salt on it. Stock up on salt packets (the hospital will give you a little "first aid" kit with good stuff too), and maybe ask the airline in advance if you could get soup broth. Certainly a little challenging but totally doable.
Let me know if there is anything else you have questions about.
Take care,
Trish

Hi Zak, welcome, I am 7 months out and down 75 lbs. I feel better than I ever have and no longer have high blood pressure or diabetes! I have three kids too and love playing with them now! I am 35, so I had this done while I was younger than some other people here, but it is never a bad time to get your health back, good luck and let me know if you have any questions. Good luck.

Hey Zak, welcome to the site. we can certainly identify with the things you mention, from shortness of breath to not being able to enjoy life fully, go on amusement park rides, being embarrassed on a plane because we take up too much room and probably need a seat belt extension, it's been our reality too.
You have made the first step in regaining your life and I hope that you can move ahead with the MGB soon.
Keep in touch and if you have questions, just fire away, someone here probably has the answer.

Hi Zak. I just sent you my contact letter. Not sure if Mark has one yet or not. Wish I could have had the MGB when I was 30! You are lucky to be able to do this so early in your life.
