First Name:
auntieshell
About Me:
I am 40 years old and have been married to my high school sweetheart for 21 years. I have 4 children and 3 grandchildren. My surgery was with Dr. Rutledge on August 27, 2008. I am revision from lapband to MGB patient. I am so happy with my MGB. No more food getting stuck, sliming, reflux, chest pain, etc. It is the best thing I have ever done for myself. . . only wish I had known about it before I went with the lapband. It took me 2 years to lose 40 lbs. with the lapband; it has taken 3 months to lose 50 lbs. with the MGB!

UPDATE: 3/23/09 I am now down 72 lbs. and feeling pretty good.

I MADE GOAL ON 5/3/09!! Started at 205 and am now 125.

GOAL!

I know this is a little late but . . . I made goal on May 3, 2009 (same day as Edie and her friend - must have been a full moon)!!! YEAH!! This journey has been amazing! I have lost 80 pounds in just a little over 8 months. I feel healthy, have a more positive outlook on life and have become more self-confident and engaging. I am embarking on a new career in home staging and redesign; I am learning French and also started training to run the Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon with my father in January 20… Continue

6 Month Update

I can't believe it has been 6 months already! My highest weight was 235 (I am 5'4") when I had the lapband placed in 8/2006. When I went in for my revision in 8/2008 from lapband to MGB I weighed in at 205. Today I am 136 lbs! I have not weighed this weight since I was about 12 years old . . that was 28 years ago!

I have incorporated 5 and 10 lb. weights into my workout routine and have noticed my arms and legs starting to firm up. My father asked me to do the Rock-n-Roll Marathon with him in J… Continue

9 WEEK UPDATE

I am sorry I have waited so long to update. I am 9 weeks out and 36 pounds down! YEAH! I have been taking my vitamins, Prilosec, Pepto, Tums and Citrucel daily as Dr. R requires. I do stay busy but still need to add in some exercise into my schedule. UGH, I am not a fan of exercise but just need to do it!

For some reason, I do not like to weigh myself and have to force myself to get on the scale. I think I am afraid that I am going to be disappointed like I was with the band and the many pre-ba… Continue

I'm Home

I had surgery August 27th with Dr. Rutledge. I was one of six littermates and was last in line for surgery since I had a lapband. Surgery took just 41 minutes and because I had the lapband Dr. R. by-passed 7 ft. The first 5 days I was sore and had insomnia for some reason but I am feeling better as each day passes and was able to sleep a little more last night. I also ended up getting thrush so I am on Nystatin (YUCK!) to clear it up. I am down 10 lbs. since surgery but my blood pressure has gon… Continue

Notebook is on it way and I am ready!!

Got my doc's letter this morning, put it in my notebook and sent out my notebook via UPS this afternoon. YEAH! Right on time- needs to be there by the 14th. I did have a concern so I called Kim Hazen. My lab reports showed that my ALT level for my liver is 128 which is pretty high so I asked Kim if that would deem me uneligible for mgb surgery. She said that it was probably a fatty liver and that they see a lot of that and that Dr. R. would look at my results and let me know. I am not too worrie… Continue

I actually just got it to look like that recently. I went to a salon that specializes in curly hair and the product is called Curly Hair Solutions Curl Keeper. Before my hair was pretty frizzy. I think your hair looks great! :)

Hi. I am new to this site - I am scheduled for lap band the end of this month and am having reservations. I found this website and would love to get some feedback on why its supposed to be so much better than the band or the regulary Roux N Y. Thanks in advance for your comments!! Stacey
