It's the day after Christmas....

Well, 2008 has really zoomed by. I now weigh 125 (well - 123 this morning - but whatever) and I feel great. I brined and cooked a turkey yesterday and it was fantastic! We had 15 people over for dinner and it was just a great time of fellowship and fun. I cooked all the traditional stuff, turkey, dressing, mashed taters, gravy, corn pudding, green bean casserole - but ate lightly. It was all delicious.

May you all be blessed in 2009!

It's been a while...

I haven't posted in a while, but I'm doing just fine! Funny how busy life gets after the MGB! I weigh 128lbs now, and that means I am officially half my former weight of 256 lbs. Everyone says I'm too skinny, but I don't think so! I just have to make sure I eat enough so I don't lose too much. I was down to 127.5 the other morning after a hectic weekend, and made it my point to eat!

I am actually below Dr. P's projection for me, but I feel good and my labs are good, so I'm not worried. I eat he… Continue

I Celebrated One Year Post Op!

Well, here it is a year later...and 123lbs gone. I celebrated my one year anniversary post op on 7/5. I am past my personal goal of 136, now weighing 133. I thought I was going to stop at 137, as I stayed there for about a month, but on 7/4 I skipped over 136 and went to 135. Since then, I've dropped to 133. I think I am about done though...
people keep telling me "No more!" I'm not concerned because Flo said that my body will know when to quit losing, and even if I lose a little too much, it wi… Continue

I'm still here!

Well, I don't check in often enough! Life is crazy as ever and I'm staying busy now that Spring is here and the weather is nicer. Of course it's still early enough that we have these last little "winters" - Dogwood Winter, Blackberry Winter - I can't keep them straight! It just gets COLD again for a couple of days. Just when I bought some shorts!

I was worried about the warmer weather, due to a bit of saggy skin on my much thinner thighs. Well friends, let me just say, "Bermudas!" They are comf… Continue

My next 50 years.....

Wow, I didn't realize I have not posted since October...bad!

I am at 7 months postop, and have lost 105lbs. I have just 15 pounds to go to meet my personal goal! I celebrated my 50th birthday last week, and was so thrilled not to have to wish on my candles that I would lose some weight! I had to actually THINK to come up with a wish. That's being content with life.

I spent most of my first 50 years fat. I am determined to spend my next 50 years thin! I hope to grow very old with my sweet husba… Continue

Hi Suzi!
Great to hear from you. I would love to get together sometime. I just began stage 2 today so let's plan for a couple weeks - how dows the 25th sound? I am going to Florida for my 1 month on the 16-19th. Maybe by then I can at least eat a good bowl of potato soup or something. So how are you doing? Send me an email... trhodes_mgb@yahoo.com

Hello Suzi,
Just dropped by to say hi. I am at a plateau and have been for a while I am stuck at 215. So pray for me girl. I want to at least get below 200. I have a body that fights to the end. Hope things are going well for you. Carol

Hey Rose!
Glad to hear that was in the past! I know what you mean about everything revolving around food...it's that way at every church I guess! And in most families if they are like mine! I will say that now at a year out, it doesn't bother me that much. I just eat a little, but still enjoy cooking for everyone. It's in my genes!
Hope your mood improves and your migraines get better. Have you ever tried Feverfew? It's an herb, and you're supposed to eat a couple of leaves of it and it gets rid of migraines. I don't get headaches, but a friend of mine and her mom suffer from migraines, and they swear by it. I have some growing in my herb garden - if you were close I'd give you some!

Talk to you later!

hi Suzi,
yeah I know what you mean I am a believer too. I was so upset that day I swore I would never go back to that church again it took me a few weeks till I could listen to him again. I was really complaining on the way home to my poor hubby t, well I wonder if he can guess who is looking at pornagraphy or is cheating on their wife...I went on and on for at least a week I was really devestated because it is such a visible thing and of course everyone can see the evidence right in front of them.
That was years ago and they have switched pastors a few times and I moved to another church closer to my home. He was a good pastor he just didn't understand obesity there where lots of very good older women in the church who where overweight, if they wouldn't have been there to serve there would be no church. I sometimes resented the christian life because of all the eating function, everything involved food..
I am better now (I think) but that was one of the worst things that happened to me as a "fat lady"...I just wonder if anyone else felt that way that day I guess we will never know...

Yes you will be preoccupied with it til the day of surgery! Then you'll be preoccupied with the ever shrinking YOU!!! Just enjoy the excitement. Don't be nervous, as it is not a bad surgery at all. The first 2 weeks is the worst, but they will fly by.

So get ready Girl! You're in for the ride of your life!
