I went to meet with the psychologist for my evaluation today. I don't know how it went or if I can expect a thumbs up report. Has anyone else felt this way?
I mean, I know that my weight has been an emotional issue for me since I was a preteen. Every diet I have tried in the past has failed and after years of failure, I learned to accept myself as I am. It's a difficult subject for me to discuss and believe me, I have had my share of discussions with therapists over the years.
Even when the id…

So this is probably going to sound a bit wierd... but I was mad at my spaghetti last night. I made some of my world famous (ok it's famous in my house anyways) home made spaghetti sauce... I had a real craving for something spicy, tomatoey, and oniony, so that means sauce. I made vermicelli noodles and we had some salad and garlic bread. I am not a bread fan these days (sits too heavy) so I bypassed the bread, I had a little bit of salad, about 1/2 a cup loosely packed, and about 1 cup of cooked…

YAHOO!! I made it under 230 and am at 227 lb. now. 7 weeks post opt. 32 lbs. gone since surgery and 41 since I was at my highest. I am happy and really have been please with my progress. Everything is going so well with what I am able to eat, how I tolerate it and my loss.
Everything is positive for me except the return of my arthritis pain in my knee and shoulder. It is waking me in the night and limiting my ability to exercise. 3 weeks ago i started back on Celebrex at my Dr. approval, but si…

So I am now 3 months post-op. I am doing really well - I feel fabulous and am excercising like a crazy person - I do a dance class called Zumba which is a Latin based cardio program that is so much fun.
Well I will turning 50 tomorrow and am double celebrating - my birthday and my 70lb. weight loss. Whoo Hoo!!! I am so happy with this surgery and the results that I have achieved already - who would have thought that it was possible to not be hungry all the time and to get full so quickly - what…

The best email ever! Now I can relax and really get ready. Time to pack and think about what to bring (not too much, I know). I have my meds already - but not my post-op ones. Should I fill those prescriptions already or wait til I get back?
Thanks Flo and Dr. P. I'm so thrilled even though a friendly colleague told me today "I'm so sorry you feel you have to do that." We had a bit of a verbal sparring match but I'm old enough to know that there are some folks who's minds are closed.

I am almost 11 weeks post op and I am having a strange problem. All of the sudden everything tastes nasty to me. I don't mean that it just doesn't sound good to eat, I mean I am literally having to force myself to eat (even though I still get very hungry often) and it is gagging me when I try to swallow. The only thing that tastes good to me are some fresh fruits. Everything else I try just tastes gross. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? What was your experience? Anyone have any id…

Today was my one month post op appointment with my PCP. When he called my into the examination room he gave me my hug and kiss on the cheek as always and asked me "how is the bravest girl I know doing today?" LOL I chuckled a bit and told him I never felt better. He took my bp and heart rate, checked my weight, measured my waist, and asked to see my diabetes log book. We went over all of the information and talked about where I thought I stood health wise right now, and where I hoped to be at 6…

I have started my job as a visiting Angel. I am finding myself wanting more hours but as a start it is okay. I was planning on putting back the money for this surgery but life can some times throw a curve ball at you. You have to do what you have to do.
I went to the Doctors and I did have to go onto more medications. We are getting them on Monday. I took my blood sugar tonight and it is 280. Not a good number. I fear that if this new medication doesn't work I will be going to shots! I have not…

In my previous post, I believed I mentioned that we were going to Red Rock Canyon this am. Ok, so change of plans - I was really tired, had breakfast, a pouch of salt, gatorade, and then went back to bed for about 3 hours!! So we went on the drive this afternoon. It's really beautiful, and fortunately it's a "scenic drive", which means that you're mostly in your car. Al got out at all the stops along the way, but I picked and chose - told him to let me know if there was something stupendous I wa…

Hi guys!! I'm 2 days out yet, and while I feel pretty ok, I was hoping to feel better sooner (silly me!). I got a lot of sleep last night - about 10 hours, then had a shower. After breakfast (a few spoonfuls of yogurt and some Gatorade) I called Trish at CLOS to check in. I told her that I'm having a lot of trouble peeing. She advised that I was probably dehydrated and needed to take in more fluid. I've been so cautious about how much I put in my tummy that I think I underdid it!! I think I'm a…

Hard to believe that exactly six months ago I was waking up in recovery after having my MGB. So much has changed for me since then. The most obvious is the 65 pounds that have left my body. Initially I lost very quickly, but since my 3 months blog post, things have slowed considerably (15 lbs in 3 months, versus 50 the first 3). I have not been exercising like I should be and have been telling myself that I would start a consistent program once I hit 145 lbs or 6 month out, whichever came first.…

Well you all saw me write on here about my concern about having a six foot bypass. I talked to Kim Hazing on the phone and she said she's seen Dr R do six foot bypasses on people lighter than me and they were not underweight in the end. So I need to quit worrying, and just enjoy myself and my new stomach, and trust in Dr R's ability to judge what each patient needs. So,I'm sorry Dr R for all my worrying. I just needed to make that right.
