Oops... I totally forgot to post a new blog for these months. Well, not much has changed. I'm down to 164 now and my weight loss has slowed down considerably but I am nearly one year out and have not been allowed to exercise until just a few weeks ago because of my brain surgery and fractured spine in July so now I need to get on the ball and get my butt moving. The other day I received a 30 day free trial offer at Curves gym so I think I'll be doing that 3 times a week so I know what regiment o…

The weight loss is coming off slower than I would like but as long as I'm losing that's fine by me. I would love it if my hubby, who thinks he's doing what I like, would STOP bringing M&M's and Chocolate Chip Cookies into the house!!!!! I can't keep my hands off them. I head back to the cupboard ever few hours for another few cookies and I know it's slowing dow…

I was in the hospital having brain surgery for this anniversary update :) While I was there they also discovered, from the major pain I had in my back one night, that I actually fractured my spine at the L2 when my horse knocked me down, so now I'm in a body brace for 6 to 8 weeks. Oh.... and I'm selling my, too young, horse and getting an older slower horse in January. Although without my horse knocking me in the head with her head they would have NEVER discovered I had anything wrong with my b…

I hit onederland a few months back and I believe I totally forgot to post it. Can't be sure because have posted I just can't remember. Anyway, surgery day was January 28th, 2008 and I weighed 232 and as of a week ago I was down to 188!!!! I'm so pleased I had this surgery that I cannot recommend it enough.
These past two months I did have to start taking my high blood pressure pills again but only a 1/2 a pill instead of two different pills per day. But the good news is... I'M OFF OF THEM AGAIN…

It's 4 months past surgery now and I'm so weak at times I can hardly move. I don't know if its from low potassium because of the lasix (water pill) I have to take daily or from low iron. Wish I had enough money to have blood tests to know for sure but I don't so I can't... so I'm just going to have to guess as to the cause. I started taking iron pills only to find out on line today that you must take them 4 hours before/after you take calcium because calcium depletes the iron. Ok... wish I would…

I've lost 33 pounds and 29.5 inches total and a size or two in my clothes!!!
Like my second month I'm still have minor problems with foods that cause gas but I found that more yogurt really helps with that problem. I'm now eating 1 to 3 yogurts per day instead of just one. I also bought a yogurt machine so I can make really healthy yogurt at a fraction of the cost!!!
When I started back on regular food I also had to start back on my water pills too and 1/4 of my high blood pressure medication.…

I found that eating 1 to 3 yogurts per day was starting to cost a hefty amount of money which I don't have so I purchased a yogurt maker from Ferns Nutrition online and used it last night for the first time. I LOVE IT! It is so easy to make homemade HEALTHY yogurt!!! I bought the "starter bacteria" and the machine and just followed the directions. The finished plain yogurt is made without sugar or fruit which can be added later if you wish. I kind of like the tart taste so I won't be adding suga…

I've lost 25 pounds and 23.5 inches total!!! I'm so pleased. The doctor told me that I would not lose as much as others right away because I was on such a high dose of water pills already but I'm still VERY pleased with the weight loss and the inches is HUGE!
A few minor problems with food at times and threw it right back up about as fast as it went down. Rice was one problem and chicken and rice this afternoon. I guess in time it will get better. I've had zero desire for steak or other heavy m…

WOW! Lost 17 pounds in two weeks and then just dead stopped for nearly two weeks. Did the panic attack contacted a few MGBer's and found out this is normal. But.... down I went again and today I'm 21 pounds down and loving it.
I'm eating Stage III foods now but still making sure that everything is more on the soft side. Not interested in trying meat yet and just really don't even have a craving for it. So far everything has gone down well as long as I take small bites, put down the fork, and ch…

Finally... It's over!!! January 28th was the day and everything went just fine!
Day of Surgery:
Got the the hospital and was amazed at the amount of patches they put on me pre-op that helped with nausia, pain, etc. But what ever they all were it helped. About the time they came to wheel me into surgery I asked my husband if we was ready to go home. Sandy heard me say that and quickly turned about and said "after all your emails and phone calls, you're having this surgery". Believe me I had no i…

I SENT MY PACKAGE IN YESTERDAY, SPOKE TO SANDY ABOUT 2 HOURS AGO AND SHE IS REVIEWING IT AND GETTING IT READY FOR DR. R TO REVIEW THIS AFTERNOON. SHE ASKED ME IF I STILL WANTED TO HAVE SURGERY ON JANUARY 28TH (ALSO MY BIRTHDAY) AND I SAID ABSOLUTELY!!!!
AT THIS POINT I'M WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM HER THIS EVENING OR TOMORROW.
I PICKED UP SOME VITAMINS, ZINC, B12 BLAST DROPS, L-CARNITINE (AMINO ACIDS),…

No further word from my sister about the trust but I'm still moving forward in faith that she will send enough for surgery and a few other things I need to get done absolutely in January. But I asked Sandy at Clos for a psych referral to get a letter from and evaluation and she gave the name of one in Las Vegas that does phone evaluations with Clos patients pre-op. I called him today and hope to hear back with a date and cost for this to happen in early January. The doctor and labs I believe hav…

I am so, unbelievably angry right now I could just explode. As a matter of fact my blood pressure is probably through the roof!!!!
I'm relying on my trust money that I "was" to receive in January to pay not only for my MGB surgery but for other major expenses necessary to pay in January so I don't lose my home. I just emailed my sister, who is in charge of the trust, and asked when she would be sending the money in January only to find that she has decided to send part of the 2009 trust money a…

I'm so excited!!!!
I submitted my patient letter last week which I put together as I was reading the manual. Today I submitted my contact letter forms online!!! I'm moving forward in the process and February will be here before I know it, but of course, not soon enough!!! I can't wait for my new life to begin.
The pre-op process is time consuming and can be very overwhelming, but I'm learned way more than I ever thought I could and have found it so interesting. I find myself calling my family…
