Marvelous Marvin moves on

I'll try to write this quickly, without a lot of tears. This was another of those days when rescuers see their work fulfilled and their hearts broken at the same time. My foster puppy Marvin has moved to his new forever home. He cried when we left his new house without him, and it… Continue

I can't believe she made that U-turn!!

CesareMeet Cesare... Cesare the dog, that is, not the surgeon! Cesare hitched a ride with me today on the transport and since I didn't have a crate big enough for him, I tethered him and he rode in the front seat. What a traveling companion! This is my kind of dog! 80 p… Continue

Celebrating a great loss!

This morning I weighed in at 230 pounds!! I'm down 50 pounds from my highest weight when I was first starting to work on my packet. That's 40 pounds lost since surgery on 5/29, ten and a half weeks ago. Am I excited? Words cannot explain how excited I am. In a few days I'll be in the 220's, where I haven't been in 8 years! I only regret I didn't do this earlier. Several years ago a friend had the MGB with Dr R when he was in Statesville, NC, just north of where I live. I looked at the clos.net w… Continue

A toothless poodle, a tripod chihuahua, and more!

Today's animal rescue transport moved 37 dogs to freedom. Our passengers were Rhett, a 60+ pounds golden retriever/great pyrnees mix, Darling, a hound mix and her 10 - 2 week old puppies, a senior poodle named Flicker (photo at right), and a senior chihuahua nam… Continue

Thank you for thinking of me. I posted my progress. Did you hear me yelling all the way down there when I went under 230 this week? I have enjoyed reading your dog rescue adventures. Thanks for posting these. Really raises everyone's awareness. Hope you are doing well and having fun. Do you work outside the home? Just wondered... you are so active.

Edie,
Thanks for your support. Tomorrow's the big day, and I'm very excited. It helps knowing that friends like you are thinking of me.

Way to go Edie!! I am so excited for you! 40 lbs. is terrific!! I am at 34lbs. down, so maybe in 2 weeks I too will be there. I can only hope! I was one lb. from entering the 250's this morning so you may hear me hoop and hollar tomorrow if I break the barrier. I haven't been there for years and years. By the way, I have a daughter and her husband and twin boys who live in N. Wilkesboro. He is a youth minister in a local Baptist church there. They just love N.C. They moved from FL three years ago. They were just here visiting. I hadn't seen them since Thanksgiving, so we were really over due for a visit. The twins are 3 and grandma is too far away!!! I really miss them, can you tell? Thanks for wanting to be my friend. This is a great site. Lots of nice folks.

Edie, thanks for the contact letter. I look forward to chatting with you about your experience. I'm adding friends now and getting to know all the people Ben knows. I honestly tried to keep my distance a bit. I was nervous because I have been heavy my whole life and I honestly don't know who the thin person inside me is. Does that sound strange?
