I had mine Wednesday Doctor Rutledge said every thing went fine and he bypassed 9 feet. Seems like a lot, but I'm glad he did it. I spent last night bumping into my litter mates while walking up and down the halls Big shout out to Ki, Nick, Mary Ann, and 15 year old Logan. We all did great.
Lisa had hers this morning and is doing bettter. She also got a 9 foot bypass. She had some trouble waking up and with pain, so she was the lucky recipient of ten morphine shots. She sounded good tonight tho…

Wow. I guess there is no backing off now. There have been so many potential stopping points . . . what if I can't find a supportive doctor? What if I'm too heavy? Who can stay with the kids for 2 weeks while we are away? Who can we get to come with us? It is a little scary now--no excuses, just get down to CLOS and get it done! So Lisa and I have been cutting way back on bad food, trying to eat healthy and lose some more before next week. We are on for 8/6 and 8/7!

What a pain in the *ss. But I know I learned a ton (can I say ton?). I FedExed them to Las Vegas today at lunch. So unless Dr.R sees something hideous and calls off the surgery, I'm on for Wednesday August 6th. I wonder if he has ever turned away someone based on ugly pictures? The psychologist would not give me his letter but promised to send it to Dr.R right away. I think I almost blew that interview. He asked me why I wanted to do the MGB, and I told him, "So I can fit back into my prom dress…

Lisa and I are taking each other's pictures tonight. Yuk. I HATE having my picture taken. But I guess it will be good for historical purposes and fun to look back. I'm just glad I can print them out at home so someone at Walgreens doesn't see them.

My wife Lisa and I are now confirmed for August 6th and August 7th in Las Vegas with Dr. Rutledge. I get to go first! My aunt and uncle will be going down to Vegas with us to be our helpers. We bribed them with a free trip, before we told them why . . . But they were very gracious and glad to help us out. I had my psych eval yesterday. What a pain. 568 questions on the first test, and then 3 more tests after that before I even met the doctor. But he was very nice, asked lots of good questions, a…

20 &23 lbs!!! Woot woot!!! That is awesome buddy! WTG for both you and Lisa!!! I am happy that the surgery didn't damage anything critical! It is amazing how even 20 lbs makes you feel more attractive and interested in exercising... LOL I just got over a week long standoff with the scale. It just wouldn't budge past 25 lbs and I even gained 4 lbs back! Flo told me it was completely normal, and I am happy to say that I lost that 4 lbs and 3 more and amnow at 28 lbs down after one month and one day! Woot Woot!!!! We are both on our way bud.... here's to sharing the journey and encouraging people along the way!
TTYL, K-L~
best wishes to you and the Lisa
Well, so far so good. I have had lots of 'rumbling' and crazy noises and feelings, and I'm still trying to sort it all out. I can tell you for sure, I am sick of Gatorade! But I know it's good for me so I sip it all day. I have a hard time finding things I want to eat. But today I went to lunch with some folks from work (who don't know I had surgery). We went to a sushi place, and I had miso soup, and about 6 pieces of raw fish. It was great! I had no trouble and nobody suspected a thing. I have tried little pieces of roasted chicken, which tastes great but really hurts when it hits the stomach. I guess 13 days out I should be slurping porridge or something, but I really want to try real food. Anyhow, I'm down exactly 20 pounds today! Woo hoo! Lisa is down 23! So I guess its working! And yes, we have started our 'exercise' routine, and I'm happy to say that nothing critical was damaged during the surgery!
Welcome to MGB are you thinking about having surgery or some other WLS?
