About Me:
I am 30 years old, single, and ready for this journey! I currently am 5'8 and weigh about 365lbs. My Surgery is scheduled in May with Dr. P. I have been overweight all my life and am looking forward to spending the next 30 years hopefully with normal weight, easier flexibilty, less joint pain, and actually just as healthy as my first thirty years have been. I realize that if I don't get control of my weight now then I will have more then some low back pain and PCOS to worry about. I wish all of you God's blessings as you begin this road for the MGB and look forward to years to come!

Whoo Hoo moment for me....

I have been told to try and lose as much as possible prior to surgery to shrink down liver and to ensure that my inches don't go over the maximum requirement. Started strict >1000 cal a day last Saturday and am down 9 Lbs. !!! whoo hoo... Since January now I am down from 378 to 355 (as of my pcp office this morning!). Personal goal prior to sx is in the 330's. We'll see.......

Hello my friends

I have completely blown my diet today. I had a steak biscuit with 1/2 the biscuit and some bacon for breakfast. A tomato sandwich on regular white wheat bread for lunch with a handful of chips and for snack 1/2 a hershey bar. Later a 1/2 a dr pepper (had a killer headache?). But then supper was homeade chicken strips, cream corn, baked mac and cheese, fried new potatos need I go on... and then i had 1 bite of peach cobbler with ice cream. And I felt guilty while eating and I feel guilty now...… Continue

August 8th (331.4 lbs)

OOPS sorry guys, didn't realize that I hadn't posted last week! Had a not to good scale week last week. On Monday 28th discovered I had gained 3.1 lbs from my weigh in on the 25th. The 25th I weighed 335.8. So when I weighed again on Friday the 1st I had only lost 3.1 lbs (was back down to the 335.8. Today I weighed in a 331.4! I really wanted under that 330 lbs mark; really, really wanted to cross that 50lb weight loss; however my stats for the year: Since Jan 5th (378.8) To Surgery (348) 30.8l… Continue

Would be -Two-month Post Op

Hello all! And congrats to my littermates and friends: Miriam, Ben, Allison, and Ali!!! Today 2-month Post Op. It sounds like you are all doing great; keep up the good work! Update on me: I am still doing Atkins. New weight as of Friday the 18th was 337.8lbs (that is 10 lbs since surgery = 40 lbs since Jan 5, 2008). So, my instructions from Dr. P is to "not gain any weight" before coming back... I have set a personal goal to be between 300-315lbs (really would love to see 300!!!) before going… Continue

Thursday 7/3/2008 To be or not to be...

Well......Here's what everyone is waiting on...... Dr P. approved me to try again!!! So the personal trainer and low calorie diet I have been on this past month resulted in only 3lb weight loss however, I lost 2 inches in the areas he measured me and toned up so that he could feel my ribs with no problems. He was pleased, I think, and told me to go on Atkins Diet until surgery to continue shrinking my liver and for me to come back in 2-3 weeks for surgery! But unfortunately I have missed so muc… Continue

6/6/08

Weighed today. My weight loss has slowed considerably. I was 347 and at the hospital day of surgery I weighed 348.6. I have got to speed this up. My goal for seeing Dr. P again was 325ish; how will I ever get there... I'm walking the park, and dropping the calories again (tonight I splurged a little with a small frozen pizza and salad with dressing). It tasted so good while I was eating... I needed the comfort food but Tomorrow I'll be back on it; tight, with no cheating. approx 20lbs in 21 days… Continue

Ok so here is the pickle recipe....

1 lg english cucumber (the seedless kind) sliced 1/4" thick

1 sm onion sliced thin

1/2 cup of vinegar (white)

1 cup splenda

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp mustard seed

1/4 tsp celery seed

1/4 tsp turmeric

~mix pickling spices and vinegar together in a large microwave safe bowl, add cucumber and onion. Stir the ingredients.
~microwave on high for 2 minutes, stir, microwave on high for 2 more minutes.
~don't over cook! Spoon into a clean pre-heated mason jar, add enough brine to cover the pickles.
~cover the jar with the lid, seal the lid and allow the pickles to chill on the counter before storing in the fridge. Chill before serving.

makes 8 servings at 2grams of carbs per serving.

Let me know if you want anymore recipies. I have one for unpotato salad that is nice... if you like potato salad.

the weight will slow down a bit with the fruit, but when you are just dying for something new a little fruit salad is better than a chocolate bar!!! I misspelled the cheese *chips* sorry! It shouldn't be ships. LOL. They are still good though, no matter how you spell them! If you like devilled eggs they aren't a bad lunch thing too. Not too often (eggs don't sit too well when I have them too often) but once in a while they are good. I make mine with dill pickle juice. I also like leftover roast beef with home made sugar free pickles. I have the recipe for the pickles if you like. It takes less than 10 minutes to make them in the microwave and they are soooo good! But they won't last long.... so make em often!

Hey Trish, no problem. I have been in the low carb boredom stage way too many times, but liked those few recipes in particular. I'll email any others that come to mind. If I get a chance to get it off to you before I leave for Florida on next Friday I will send them. Good luck with your going ahead! TTYL
